grade 10 Leadership camp
On Tuesday April 4th to Wednesday April 5th Colonel By's Student Council will be hosting our annual spring leadership camp Paws 4 Change at Camp Smitty in Eganville, Ont. The camp is for Grade 10 students and will focus on Bullying, Diversity, and Leadership and will host 100 Grade 10 campers, 25 Grade 11 and 12 student leaders, 10 staff members, and a number of guest speakers.
Day 1 of the camp will include 4 small group breakout sessions examining each of the focus areas, various leadership activities, and an evening camp fire and dance. Day 2 will include CB Action Plan sessions and a variety leadership activities/events.
Participating students are to be at Colonel By at 6:15AM on the 4th and will return to school at 5:30PM on the 5th. Breakfast lunch and dinner will be provided on Day 1 as well as breakfast, lunch and dinner on Day 2.
Students will be held to the standards of behaviour/Code of Conduct stated in the Colonel By Student Planner. Leadership Camps take place in a smoke, drug, alcohol and weapon free environment. Any infraction is dealt with following OCDSB Safe School Policy.
Students who are unable to meet these standards while on the trip will experience sanctions, which may include return to Ottawa (pick up by parents) and other school-based consequences.
Students are responsible for making arrangements with their regular classroom teachers at Colonel By to ensure any missed work is completed. All deadlines for payments and form submissions are firm.
Students wishing to participate but who are facing financial difficulties should speak privately to Mr. Baird to inquire about school support.
